NYX Gets Green Light to Operate in Canadian Provinces

The company known as NYX Gaming Group has been granted an approval to begin offering its software to online gaming services in certain parts of Canada. With its headquarters in Las Vegas, NYX has become a leading online casino game developer so this is definitely good news for Canadian casino fans. NYX offers a very wide range of high quality gambling products for desktop and mobile gaming. This includes multiple channels of online gambling entertainment from casino and bingo rooms to poker and sportsbook. NYX already works with a number of major online game operators from around the world so this further expansion into other parts of North America is a natural development.

Where will NYX be available?

The current approval covers the provinces of Quebec, British Columbia ad Nova Scotia. While online casino is legal in Canada, there aren’t that many provincially run casinos, but thais will obviously be the main focus of NYX’s entry to the market. Specifically, expect to see NYX games introduced to PlayNow.com (BC) and EspaceJeux.com (Quebec).

The approving body that agreed to NYX becoming an official gaming service provider in BC is the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (commonly known as the BCLC), a subdivision of the British Columbia Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch.

In Quebec, Loto Quebec recognized NYX as an approved gaming service supplier while in Nova Scotia, NYX was classified and registered as a lottery equipment supplier by the Nova Scotia Alcohol, Gaming, Fuel and Tobacco Division. It will be interesting to see how NYX’s products will be integrated into the Canadian online casino market as well as how they will be received by players.

In response to the good news, NYX’s CEO Matt Davey said, “Satisfying the comprehensive conditions set out by the gaming regulators and authorities across these provinces is a testament to our long-term strategy to operate at the highest levels in regulated gaming worldwide. The approvals pave the way to expand our footprint with gaming content and sportsbook services across Canada; our underlying product focus is now the cornerstone of our new operating model and strategic vision.”

Davey also remarked that “Since our initial public offering at the end of 2014, the journey at NYX has been underpinned by our view on the technology, content, and capabilities required to capitalize on the pace of growth in regulated online gambling worldwide. We look forward to providing world-class content and technology across these provinces and working closely with their respective gaming regulators and authorities.”

To handle the forthcoming legal compliance work, NYX appointed a new Chief Legal Office in the form of Todd McTavish. Commenting on the new events, McTavish said, “NYX has established a highly attractive position in the market across multiple product categories; after a period of strategic M&A the focus of the business has turned to world-class execution.”

In response to McTavish’s hiring, CEO Matt Davey added, “Todd joins us with extensive experience in corporate law, business strategy, regulatory and product compliance. We continue to experience rapid growth and we have appointed Todd to add further strength to our senior management team.”

NYX obviously had to go through the red tape and protocols to receive the approvals. Regulation for an operations that include wagering of some kind is very strict in Canada. It’s obviously worth it when the reward is entering a huge new market and NYX must have put in the work to pass the strict examinations. The nature of these new approvals with regards to land-based gaming is still a bit unclear so we will just have to wait to see how that develops. Hopefully this will also give the company additional resources to develop new entertaining casino games.
